I think where we are at a crossroads here is that I don’t believe sprint velocity is worth measuring because the maths involved in adding it up is filled with much more noise than substance.

You keep saying that relating points to a unit of time is a failure to grasp what story points are, but then referencing sprint velocity. (Number of points completed in a period of time).

“A sudden increase in velocity is a signal that there may have been some improvement in a process or a leap in understanding that could be exploited and adopted in future sprints to sustain that higher velocity”

What I can’t understand is that if relating story points to a unit of time is a failure to grasp story points and incorrect, how can it possibly make sense to calculate sprint velocity?
