The entire premise of this article is the relation between story point sizing to real world delivery times.
It’s pretty clear to me how that delivers value.
How much work will be done by a particular time is very useful information for a variety of reasons, I think if you reject that as a premise then the arguments made in the article will be unreconcilable for you.
I agree that stories should be broken down into small chunks, ambiguity increases with the size of the story, so smaller stories are better but I reject the premise that everything can be broken into perfectly sized 1 day chunks, that’s not my experience.
To your point about vertical vs horizontal takes, I’m not sure I understand the significance of that in relation to the article. Same logic applies whether the task is part of a vertical feature or not.
I think your points about what a stand up should be is valid, but it’s uncommon that sprints are actually run like that. Again, not strictly related to the topic at hand
